![]() The PICU waiting room has a 375 gallon aquarium used as a room divider. The Ambulatory Surgery waiting room has a 150 gallon aquarium also used as a room divider.
The General Pediatric Clinic has a 225 gallon aquarium. The Third Floor Playroom has a custom made 70 gallon flat back hexagon aquarium complete with seagull. The stand and canopy was made to match the other cabinetry in the room.
The tank in the Hematology / Oncology clinic has two views. The view in the hallway ties into the mural where the picture of a boy is fishing in the aquarium. When you follow the fishing line down, there is an actual bobber and bait floating in the aquarium. The other view inside the clinic is a 72 gallon bowfront aquarium.
The UAMS Child Study Center at ACH has two aquariums. One is a 55 gallon aquarium and the other is a 125 gallon aquarium. Both stands were custom made to be lower to the floor so the kids could more easily look in.
Our newest aquarium is a 600 gallon aquarium located in the Child Enrichment Center. It stands 6 inches from the ground and the tank itself is 4 feet tall. A child can walk up to the tank and feel like they are in the water with the fish. There are several other smaller aquariums that are located in various other clinics around the hospital. We have been servicing aquariums at ACH for over 10 years and have been approved by their Infectious Control Committee. (And you think the State Health Dept is tough!)
